The Sections

Beavers are aged between 6 and 8 years old, and are the youngest and first section of the Scouting Group. Beavers enjoy many activities like playing games, crafts, going on visits and badge work.

Boys and Girls can join our Beaver Colony however, there is currently a waiting list. The waiting list is managed centrally by Hitchin District. If you wish to add your child to the waiting list, please click the button below.

3rd Hitchin Beaver colony called Otter Beavers meets every Tuesday evening.


Cubs for Boys and Girls aged between 8 & 10½  and is the second section of the Scouting Group. A varied programme is offered which includes games, badge work, cooking, crafts, hikes, etc.  In addition Cubs will be invited to at least one weekend camp each year, usually with the chance to sleep in tents. 

3rd Hitchin has a Cub pack called Panther who meet on a Wednesday evening.


The Scout Section is for Boys and Girls aged between 10½  and 14 years old.  A young person can come into the Troop at 10½ and may stay until their 14th birthday.  The Scout Troop is the third and final Section in the Scout Group. As older members of the Group, Scouts tackle more adventurous activities. In addition they go on weekend camps and a seven day summer camp. Scouts meet for 2 hours every week in term time and during the summer months spend most evenings out and about. 

Scouts have a troop called Phoenix. The unit is made up of a number of patrols with Scouts of all ages. The Scout unit meets on a Monday.
